ABOUT THE EVENT/
On July 7th, 8th and 9th, 2017, the first edition of Circus OFF will be held at Studio 303, a gathering that defends frank expression and the exchange of ideas. In an environment that stimulates a committed voice, we support a vision other than the commercial, entertainment and capitalist model of circus that prevails in Montreal.
This living manifesto for the biodiversity and ecology of a post-acrobatic, queer, feminist, political, alternative, non-commercial circus, centered on experience, openness, sensitivity, artistic and human approach, embraces artistic risk-taking and freedom of speech. To shed light and focus on the main issues of the Montreal circus scene, we propose two formats for democratic discussion: Long "Potluck" Table and Open Space Conference.
This inaugural event provides a platform for a circus philosophy and policy in Montreal that will emerge from within the circus community itself. Circus OFF is an invitation to listen, share, discuss, reflect.
This project is supported by Studio 303 and is part of its summer residency program.
